“Fishing for Words, Photos, and Tight Lines” |
|
Writer, photographer, fly fisher Len Rich passed away April 13, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. As a columnist, author, photographer, and mentor of up and coming writers, he left a profound legacy, touching the lives of many throughout the writing and fly fishing worlds. One of his greatest gifts was his capacity to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and share it with others through his columns, books and encouragement. His voice and his passions live on through his writing and the people he touched and inspired.
Hi — My name is Len Rich, and for more than four decades I’ve been enjoying the great outdoors of Canada—and sharing it with people through words and photographs. Most of my outdoor activities have taken place in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, plus the Maritime provinces of Eastern Canada. My experiences include hunting and bowhunting, freshwater and saltwater angling, fly fishing, fly tying, outdoor photography, camping, and travel. In 1985 I discovered an unbelievably beautiful lake and river in a remote area of Labrador, rich with huge Eastern brook trout. I brought a lifelong dream to fruition in 1991 by developing and opening a fly-in sport-fishing haven, Awesome Lake Lodge. After a successful decade, I sold the lodge and semi-retired to focus on writing. Through the years, I’ve written hundreds of feature articles appearing in numerous outdoor and travel magazines and authored six books, edited and contributed to another.
