In Memoriam

The Outdoor Writers of Canada is the national organization representing outdoor communicators who specialize in writing, photography, TV and media production, radio, or other forms of entertainment regarding Canada’s great outdoors.

In the above photo I represented and promoted OWC at the Halifax RV and Outdoor Sports Show in 2006.

 

As Eastern Director I represented OWC  members in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Newfoundland & Labrador. 

 

I would meet with other Directors once per year at an autumn business meeting and correspond regularly with all OWC members through the newsletter, Inside Outdoors.

 

I was the link between members and the Board of  Directors who make decisions regarding matters relating to or affecting Eastern Canada.  I have served three terms with the Board.

As chair of the Mentor Committee Len attempted to match OWC members in good standing with seasoned members who wish to act as mentors.

Lifelong friendships and relationships are formed with the mentor program.  Student or seasoned writer, Len felt we could all use help from time to time as we face obstacles or just look for another opinion from our peers and colleagues.

The program continues to grow and a new award for up and coming writers who participate in the Mentor Program is currently being developed in Len’s memory.
