The Outdoor Writers of Canada is the national organization representing outdoor communicators who specialize in writing, photography, TV and media production, radio, or other forms of entertainment regarding Canada’s great outdoors. |

In the above photo I represented and promoted OWC at the Halifax RV and Outdoor Sports Show in 2006.
As Eastern Director I represent OWC members in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Newfoundland & Labrador.
I meet with other Directors once per year at an autumn business meeting and correspond regularly with all OWC members through the newsletter, Inside Outdoors.
I am the link between members and the Board of Directors who make decisions regarding matters relating to or affecting Eastern Canada. I have served two terms with the Board. |

As chair of the Mentor Committee I attempt to match OWC members in good standing with seasoned members who wish to act as mentors. My committee consists of Don MacLean, Ken Bailey, James Murray, and Roger Brunt, all of whom have offered to assist writers with overcoming their problems. Lifelong friendships and relationships are formed with the mentor program. Student or seasoned writer, we can all use help from time to time as we face obstacles or just look for another opinion from our peers and colleagues. The program is slowly growing as we have two members who are availing of this service. The future lies with new writers as well as some of us “old hands”, and I am pleased with it to date. |
